As I approach my 52nd birthday, I am finding myself once again looking back to how things have been and what I would like to become.
With this reflection comes some harsh realities and redefining my current goals.
- Health
- Wealth
- Relationship
- Personal Peace
These are at the top of my list, as I am sure they are for many people.
I don’t have a magic success list or some long winded inspirational writing for anyone, much less myself, but accept it is a journey and course corrections will need to be made.
I have spent many years reading about how to achieve goals, how to prioritize, how to organize, and such. All the information is fantastic, but hard for me to implement. I can come up with reasonings, excuses, justifications; but in the end, I just need to buckle down, choose one and try it.
During my life’s journey, I have come to accept that I am probably ADHD to some degree. Though never medically / officially diagnosed, that ‘tell-tale’ signs given by various sources are prevalent with me.
I have come to accept this. I am not fighting it. I won’t deny it. I won’t get medicated for it. The implication intrigues me from the standpoint that if I understand it and work with tools and techniques provided from many sources, I can potentially use it as a superpower. But I won’t let it define who I am or have it become my personality or excuse.
Why do I bring it up at all then? Well, it brings me to the first ‘major step’ and ‘implementation’ for my 52nd year around the sun.
Non-negotiable Tasks each day.
What?
I often get sidetracked, lazy, or push off large and small tasks that should get done (dishes, fold clothes, etc.)
So now each day, I am coming up with three (3) non-negotiable tasks (some big, some super simple) that I will (MUST) get done that day before I go to bed. Sounds simple to say, harder to do, really hard to make routine.
But I have faith I can do it, I just must keep myself accountable.
Carry on and go forth!
